Sam previews Blaenavon Blues.

“We’ve got a couple missing (on) Saturday, it’s the time of the season where there are
holidays, and people (have) got work commitments.”

Newport City will travel to The Memorial Ground on Saturday to take on Blaenavon Blues in
their Aradal South East League opener. With that has come tricky decisions for manager
Sam Houldsworth to make

“We’ve got a wedding, one of the lads (Jordan) who captained us on the weekend, it’s
his wedding on Friday night, so he won’t be available.”

The opener as mentioned has brought a lot of decisions to be made as to who can and who
cannot play leading into this game, and following two tricky games against Blaenavon last
season, this time around looks to prove no different as The Steelmen will look to have a
good start to their campaign.

“We’ve got a strong squad and we’ve got the numbers.”

Sam Houldsworth is still optimistic that the team can pull out a result and is confident that the
squad have enough depth to be able to compensate for the players who will not be available.
This is widely credited to the amount of business the club has made during the summer.
